Yep that happened to me as well. I kept meaning to email corrie and Mike to let them know that the customs charge was being hiked, something like 8 or 12 pounds being added by customs to handle the charge which is passed on to royal mail. Then I think royal mail added more on top.

I think it happened because the value of the badge was over 25 pounds. It would not have been before brexit as the pound to USD was not too bad, but afterwards it took a hammering and so the 25 pounds limit was breached. this is where the customs charge kicks in and all the added charges. Not sure if Corrie and Mike can do anything about it at all, but who knows.
In Cyprus I was charged 18 Euros customs tax on the emblem etc.
Received my supporters pack in UK and no charges at all

I think the have changed the method of shipment and got some advise my guess is that the value shown on the item is next to nothing and of no commercial value which is true because the items only have value to the individual member and no one else. The items have no resale value so should ship with a value of £1 as there has to be a monitory value on the shipping invoice if it showed £0 it would be bounced by US or UK customs.

I didn't get a charge when my last stuff came through but then I have broken it down to small bits.

hows the prep going did your stuff arrive and how nervous stroke excited are you now only a few days left before the off, enjoy it and when you come through Dover which I assume will be your port of entry don't forget to stop by.

Oh and have you watched any of Carolina Car Guys vids on u-tube, inspirational made me want to ship mine out and follow his route but allow myself a couple of months.

Hi
Newbie here based in Norfolk I run a D1 modified and a D2 completely stock. At the moment my D1 is feeling under the weather needing a small amount of welding rear crossmember. Just started to strip and rebuild a Sankey narrow track to convert into a expedition trailer

From our side prep is pretty much complete pick up the Landy and trailer monday after we get back to Cyprus.

All our stuff arrived yesterday, a day after we left Aberdeen which is typical. Kids signed for it though so all good.

Curently in Yeovil now seeing other kids but fly to Cyprus tomorrow for the final countdown and loading up the trailer and Landy.

Right now its more nervous than excited in fact I was asked by daughter in law today if I was excited. My response was I will be happy once we are a week into the trip and on the way.
We are both very much looking forward to finally get going however we both have a few nerves here and there.

Absolutely we will be coming through Dover. We are hoping to meet up and say hello to as many members as we can if only to put faces to names and maybe share a coffee.

I have not seen the videos but I will take a look.

Its good to have some nerves as you set off it keeps you sharp, remember the old engineers adage if it looks right it probably is and if it feels wrong it probably is, remember discretion is the greater part of valour.
