Hello everyone.
I'm planning a trip from northern Italy to Armenia. I had hoped to visit Azerbaijan as well, but the borders are still closed.
I'm 60 years old and plan to leave on May 31, 2027, riding a 2026 Honda Africa Twin 1100 Adventure Sports. I'll travel alone, mostly wild camping.
In total, it will be over 11,600 km, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Georgia on the outward journey. On the return journey, I'll also pass through Greece, North Macedonia, Albania, and Montenegro.
I've prepared a roadbook as detailed as possible with GPX tracks, which I'll upload to TomTom and Osmand for Georgia and Armenia.
I've relied heavily on information found on iOverlander and online, especially regarding camping gear and modifications to the bike.
I've currently replaced the handguards, mirrors, and footpegs. I've also installed the frame for the soft rear panniers (Canyon Givi).
I'm still undecided about the tires. I was thinking about the Dunlop Trailmax Mission, which should be able to handle the entire trip and provide sufficient grip even on challenging sections like the Zagari Pass.
I'd love to know if anyone has had similar experiences so I can get some advice on precautions to take, bike setup, and any other useful tips.
Thanks!
