OH! And shoe trees! We haven't weighed in on them. Though I can never decide if they are an eyesore or interesting, they are a landmark of sorts, or a way point...something to point out to the kids on road trips. People are devastated when they are cut down. A large one on HWY 50 was taken down by a n'er do well individual or gang, the outcry was enormous, for both the tree itself and the tradition. The one on Hwy 395 N of the NV state line was taken out by Cal Trans I believe.
