In my mind I am always at a remote high-elevation lake surrounded by snowcapped peaks.

This is a leisurely trek through Anza-Borrego, Chuckwalla, Joshua Tree, Mojave and Death Valley. Oriented around folks with trailers, but all are welcome. Mostly 2 nights at each location, around 80 miles per day, on average.

Do you plan on starting at Owl Canyon? Looks like it from your waypoint.
I am in Victorville. Can meetup wherever.

Hi Cliff - near Owl Canyon, just this side at Rainbow Basin - we avoid formal campgrounds where possible, but as I haven't actually camped at Rainbow Basin we'll scoot over to Owl Canyon if appropriate.

I have camped at Owl Canyon, a nice campground, reasonably priced ($6.00 /night). I don't know of any other spots to camp within Rainbow Basin. But there is lots of BLM land around it. I recommend planning on staying at Owl Canyon rather than trying to find a good primitive spot. If someone else knows of a good primitive spot, let us know.

Thanks Cliff - I may prerun the sites if my projects get done ahead of schedule, or we can decide on the fly - the other travelers (non-OB folks) are all fairly hardy and adventurous, even if some of us are a bit long in the tooth, and given to boondocking whenever possible versus organized camps. Still, if Rainbow Basin or the surrounding area isn't supportive - we'll fall back to Owl Canyon (and I think most of us will qualify for the senior discount). You can always reach me on 408-480-9583 or, for this trip, GMRS 15/19.

Derek, Sounds great! I wish I could join but regrettably cannot. I mentioned the trip in last weeks meeting. Have a great, safe trip!

Thanks Roger. Looking forward to seeing you at next mtg, or maybe Usal.

I am visiting all the campsites and trails for the Anza Mojave trip and will post an updated map over the weekend. We have 8 trailer rigs and one OB member for the majority of the trip, plus one or two more OB folks joining us in Mojave for the weekend.
