Yesterday, we spontaneously decided to take the familiar TET route from Bornhöved to Lütjeburg. But things turned out differently.
Benni and I took the Jeep ZJ Magnum and, after a 70-minute drive, met the other two, Nils and Raphael, at the starting point in Bornhöved. It was Nils' first TET tour.
After the first bend, we had to saw up an unprotected tree and clear it from the road (#leaveitbetterthanyoufoundit). But with the right equipment (I had bought an original TrailBlazzer Buck Saw years ago), the tree was no problem at all. Instead of the OG TET, we rode the TET that we had already modified. This took us over snow-covered forest paths and dirt roads with heavy drifts to the Trave river crossing. Up to this point, there was nothing particularly challenging. Since the angle into the Trave is relatively steep (coming from the west) and we didn't want to risk having to recover, we decided to go a little faster. This made the waves a little higher, which prevented the other two from crossing the Trave at night. But basically, it wasn't that deep. The problem was more on the other side. Snow drifts, some over a metre high. Even 4Low had problems because the car kept getting stuck. The other two waited for us at another spot. But Benni and I had to move what felt like tons of snow for what seemed like an eternity before we decided to turn back. It wasn't that easy. But in the end, we got to know the car and the area better. Great memories.
We met the other two at around 11:30 p.m. in Bad Segeberg at the petrol station where we filled up and checked the Jeep for possible damage.
A great spontaneous trip. Shout out for everyone making it happen.
