We’re officially past the halfway mark of the year, and it’s a great time to pause, reflect, and look ahead as a community. In our mid-year review discussion, we’ll be going over highlights from past trips, meetups, and events, what went well, what could’ve been better, and what we learned along the way. We'll also be sharing details on upcoming trips and meetups, talking through changes and improvements to how we run things, and getting your input on what you'd like to see more of in the months ahead.

Big changes are on the horizon for the group, and we want to bring everyone in on what’s coming. We’ve been working behind the scenes on some major updates, including improvements to our Discord server, how we organize trips, run meetups, communicate, and grow as a community. There’s a lot evolving, and we’re excited to start sharing those plans with you. From new tools and systems to better structure and support, our goal is to make things more engaging, efficient, and fun for everyone involved.

Whether you’ve been with us from the start or are just getting involved, your input is key. We want to hear what’s been working for you, what challenges you’ve run into, and what kinds of trips, events, or community features you'd like to see going forward. This is your chance to help shape the next chapter of the group and we’ve got a lot to share.

★ Upcoming December Monthly Meetup

➤Time: 11:00AM - 1:00PM
➤ Location: Laughing Monk Brewing and Gastropub
• 1235 Oakmead Pkwy, Sunnyvale, CA 94085

➤ Main Discussion: Plans for 2026

This month’s meetup is all about coming together as a community to help design, plan, and shape our 2026 adventure season. Your input isn’t just welcome, it’s a key part of building the biggest year we’ve ever taken on.

2026 is our moment. A chance to redefine who we are as a community and how far we're willing to push our sense of adventure. This isn’t just another year on the calendar, it’s the one where we go bigger, farther, and deeper into the wild than ever before.

We’re gearing up to explore everything California and the surrounding states have to offer. From forgotten backroads and high mountain passes to desert canyons, coastal trails, and wide-open wilderness … if the West has it, we’re chasing it. This is the season of true exploration and adventure trave … the kind that challenges us, inspires us, and leaves us with stories that last.

2026 will be filled with bigger trips, longer routes, more campfires, and stronger teamwork. We’re building a year packed with purpose, connection, and the kind of memories that only come from miles shared with good people on rugged terrain. This is where our crew levels up, in skill, in organization, and in community.

➤ What we’ll cover:
• Trip ideas and adventure planning
• Mapping out early 2026 meetups
• Planning hands-on workshops for trail skills
• Introducing our first-ever “Big Trip” adventure
• Community volunteer opportunities
• Setting community objectives and improvements
• Open Q&A and trail discussion

And the best part? You’re not just along for the ride, you’re helping shape the entire year. Your experiences, ideas, and vision directly impact the trips we choose, the routes we run, the workshops we create, and the goals we set. This meetup is the launchpad for the entire 2026 season, and everyone’s voice strengthens the path we build together.

So come ready to reconnect, recharge the stoke, and help design a season of legendary exploration. Let’s step into 2026 united, energized, and ready to go beyond the map.

➤ Main Discussion: Plans for the 2026 Season

As we wrap up the year, our local Overland Bound community is already looking toward the trail ahead. December’s meetup is where we begin shaping what the 2026 adventure season will look like for our region.

Next year already feels like it has momentum behind it ... new regions to explore, longer routes, and more time in the mountains, deserts, coastlines, and wide-open spaces that define what it means to “Outfit & Explore.” And the best part? We build it together.

This meetup is where those ideas start to form. A trail someone mentions, a route someone has been eyeing, a destination that sparks interest around the table … that’s how next year's adventures begin.

★ What We’ll Cover
▪ Route brainstorming and trip ideas
▪ Early season meetups for 2026
▪ Hands-on trail skill workshops
▪ Introduction to our first-ever “Big Trip”
▪ Volunteer roles and how to get involved
▪ Goals, improvements, and community direction
▪ Open Q&A

★ Share Your 2026 Trip Ideas
We’ve opened a dedicated Discord forum thread for everyone to drop their route ideas, dream destinations, and suggested trips ... whether it’s a desert crossing, a forest road, a coastal ridgeline, or a bucket-list trail you’ve been wanting to run. Every idea helps shape next year’s lineup.

Designing the Journey: From Idea to Itinerary

Meetup Type ➟ Skill Building
Format ➟ Presentation | Discussion

Learn how to turn a trip idea into a realistic, well-thought-out itinerary that works in the real world.

➣ What This Meetup Is About
This skill building meetup focuses on how to plan your own off-road and overland trips, from the first idea through a clear, well-thought-out, and flexible itinerary.

We’ll walk through how people find trails and dispersed camping, how land rules and real-world constraints shape what’s possible, and how good plans balance structure with flexibility. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s turning ideas and research into an itinerary that feels calm, intentional, and adaptable once you’re actually out there.

➣ What We’ll Cover
• How people discover off-road trails and dispersed camping areas
• How land designations and rules affect where you can go
• How to turn routes, camps, and research into a usable itinerary
• How to plan for time, terrain, and group dynamics
• Common planning mistakes that lead to rushed or stressful trips

➣ Why Attend
• Gain confidence planning your own trips
• Learn how to design itineraries that actually work on the trail
• Understand how to plan responsibly and legally
• Reduce stress by planning with intention and flexibility

This meetup is ideal for anyone who wants to plan personal trips, help lead group outings, or better understand how well run trips come together.
