If you've ever done the Skyline Drive trail in Big Bear, CA, you know it's got beautiful scenery, but not very challenging. The kind of trail you'd take your neighbor, with his new Range Rover ;-). However, add a foot of snow, and you've got yourself an adventure. Does anyone know if they keep it open, past the first dusting?

Agreed, it's a very beautiful trail to drive. I did it several times in my old 4R (2x4), and only once in my 4R (4x4). Seeing as this thread has been opened for a while, you probably already have your answer. If you haven't already done so I'd contact the Big Bear Discovery Center for details. I would assume they'd recommend calling back after the initial dusting for up-to-date information on closures.

I've seen videos on the youtubes of people driving through it with a decent few inches of snow on the ground. I have a feeling they let it go until it is actually "unsafe" to drive and not just: at your own risk of being stuck.
