Running out of toilet paper

So far , the wife and I have not run out of TP. However after reading this thread I can guarantee that there will be back up rolls and maybe some wipes to ensure that the happiness endures.

Thanks OP for starting this thread.

That should fit just fine.

On a spare tire swing away.

It would perfectly complement a bumper dumper.

And I can just imagine what would happen if the end got loose while you were tooling down the highway.
That's one way to find your way back to the highway if you get lost.

This post has gone on long enough. I hope all will remember that a big part of Overlanding is, being prepared. We have fun prepping our vehicles, to be reliable for our needs. We buy equipment to be self efficient and for comfort. Having enough TP for a trip into the outdoors is part of the prep we should all be doing. If you run out of TP, I’m sure everyone here can come up with a solution!
Some of the Members here have lots of outdoor experience, and even gave some good do and don’t with toilet sanitation. Let’s leave it at that. Vance.

My dad made one out of old 2x4's and scrap plywood, along with a old toilet seat. Worked great, but was not a compact piece of gear as you could imagine. I borrowed it a couple of times, and received some ribbing over it. Guess what,......they all were not shy when it came time. After my dad passed, I inherited it. The now EX-wife, was so against hauling it from Vegas to Eastern Oregon for a family get together (kids, adults -12 people). Guess what.....when it was time, there was a line formed. Never heard a peep after that first day.
Best part.......I had the last laugh, and had to mention a few times, what a hit it was.

EDIT:
I, like most prefer options if possible. T.P. =2x what you think you will need for your trip. If inventory is being depleted at a greater rate than planned, a resupply at some outpost will be called for. Imodium pills can help with unforeseen situations like this, along with with baby/hygene wipes to curtail excessive use. I hope this is a sanitized responce, that does not offend, and is acceptable to all, and lastly follows the original OP in spirit:smirk:
Awesome!! I totally agree with your last comment. 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Always be prepared.

Imagine your out in the middle of nowhere and you get your vehicle high centerd on a small hill and your exhaust catches grass on fire then your rig goes up in flames along with all your preps. It starts raining and extinguished the fire but your left with nothing but the clothes your wearing. All that stress makes you have to go crap. Will you walk out with poo encrusted pants or do you have an alternative means to wipe?

Who cares about wiping your ass at this point? Personally, I will be more concerned about the bolt of lightning that I will surely be struck down by on the walk out after encountering the odds that will prompt the above scenario. If I make it to civilization I’ll be wiping my ass with hundred dollar bills from the winning mega millions ticket I’ll be buying! Or a sock I guess.

To all yall who go on extended trips longer than the weekend in middle of nowhere. What do you do or plan to resort to if or when you run out of tp?
Dirty socks,boxers or shirt?
Paper map?
Spray bottle?
Dip your ass in river/stream?
Leaves?
Just be nasty till you get to civilization?

Ive had to do 1 through 5 no way im having itchy stinky butt on the trail. Now i carry more tp than i think ill need but shit happens.
Cut the tops off my tube socks.

Other overlanders tend to leave towels, t shirts, socks, etc, drying on their tarp guy lines.

Just saying.....

Not to worry, you are on ignore, I have little time for trolls.

But that sure does not look like "dry" grass. Here in BC, if that were dry grass, no one would drive over it. When the fire risks are high here, we actually do shut down industry and stay out of the forest.
BB, in defense of @Boostpowered statement about grass, he is right about all of the southwest USA. 90% of the time the grass is dry enough to burn. Only in our short monsoon do we get enough water to turn grass green for a short time. He was only giving an example that is feasible here in the SW USA.

As far as what I would do in a situation where I have no kind of paper, I think I could manage to sacrifice my shorts or T shirt in a one time situation. It really does make a difference in the time of year where I live. In NM we have a plant that is called Indian TP. It grows profusely in my area. Laugh if you want but it works, ask any cowboy who gets the urge riding heard and not likely to have TP with him out on the range, he will tell you, get yourself a couple of big leaf's of Indian TP plant and head for the bushes.

Vance, this is only page 4. I see some of these threads go on for another 300 pages that are just as ridiculous in nature IMO (no pun).

LOL, I wouldn't have expected this thread to be the one that gets people arguing.

Even if I don't have TP, I always have a knife, and have used it more than once to harvest pieces of clothing in time of need.

As for discrete distribution of waste. It's 2019 modern leftist culture has taught an entire generation of "people" that pooping on the sidewalk is normal and acceptable. Expecting those people to act much different in a more remote setting is probably overly optimistic.

Whoa now. HOLD ON! I will not someone someone disparage modern sidewalk pooping culture without making it know that there is an extreme amount of care going into turning sidewalk pooping into a responsible component of modern free culture. Sidewalk pooping is a vital component of the economy. It has created an entire governmental department to deal with it. An app, maps, endless news stories, etc. These are good paying jobs that will help drive the modern socialist machine as it continues to build steam. They are also expandable once perfected and they will get to your local trail before you know it!

In the meantime.. just watch where you step!
