Off-Road Ranger I
Figured I would make a quick post of my FuelPAX mounted that finished up yesterday. It leverages the FuelPAX mounts that come with the containers, but I needed a way to mount them on my Garvin roof rack.
Not a complicated project, but the real reason that I'm posting is that once I completed the build, I realized a design flaw that I wanted to share. The containers like to mount to a flat surface. With the standard mounts, everything, including the 4 bolts fits within the raised/recessed mounting circle on the container. Unfortunately, the bolts on my plate are outside of that circle, and are now pressing into the side of the container when it's mounted. Not a major issue, but I'm worried that with any movement from being on the road/trail, it could wear a hole in the container.
My solution will be to change the rack mounting bolts to a carriage bolt, and add a couple washers between the FuelPAX mount and the plate.
