Hey overland family,

Ive been researching propane tank carrying laws across the united states. Does anyone have any info on this? My family and I are traveling across many state lines and want to be safe and within the law.

I plan to mount the 5 lb tank either on my roof rack or the back of my rig.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I have mounted mine, very securely, on my roof rack and other times store it inside the vehicle (Trunk, back seat, etc). I have seen people mount it on their trailers but my concern there is if they get hit by another vehicle. I would keep it above bumper level for that reason.
Sorry its not the official legal answer but that's what I've done in CO and CA and haven't had any issues.
