It was now time to put this project on wheels and make it a roller.

As you can see in those poser shots I trimmed the TJ flares to fit the tub.

Next up, I wanted to add some additional storage up front and also add some tongue weight to the trailer, so I scrapped up some scrap pieces and fabbed up a basket. Also added some additional bracing to the tongue to help support the basket.

My jeep buddy had an old tonneau cover from an Explorer Sport Track that he thought might work for the trailer project, so he gave it to me to try. It actually fit pretty good, so I picked up some snaps and installed it. I was able to attach it in the back with a TJ soft top bar and brackets. Worked out pretty slick.

A trip to the DMV to make it legal, and this project was coming to a close. Next up, a maiden voyage to see how it tows.

With no weight in it, the trailer wanted to waggy a bit at freeway speeds. As long as I had a little weight up front in the basket it towed smooth. It was time to try it out on a day trip. Took the wife fishing for the day at a local spot.

Trailer worked out well as I had hoped. It was truly a fun project. I learned a bunch, improved my welding skills, and made something useful from a pile of junk for the most part. It was time to start my overlanding adventures, so we headed out to our local national forest for some camping/fishing/overlanding.

The tonneau cover really came in handy here to keep our gear clean.

Future plans include busting it back apart for a little more body work to the sides and a proper paint job. My old bones are tired of sleeping on the ground, so a RTT may be in Franky's future. I decided to add some cage work to accept a RTT, and make it removable if needed.

Having the cage removable really adds to the overall utility of the trailer.
