Hi guys,
I am new to this forum and I wanted to share some insights from our latest DIY builds for overlanding and self-sufficient traveling. As we are traveling through Europe in our Toyota Land Cruiser J120 from 2009 the only thing missing for our trip through Spain in 2025 was a portable kitchen. Having only a drawer installed in the back of our LC, I prefer to use modular equipment for our travels. Since I love to cook, I was looking for something robust and sturdy for our kitchen setup but nothing seemed to fit our needs. I'd also like to have everything we need for our cooking experience and be flexible about where we set up.
For our kitchen box I am using a solid aluminium box from Zarges K470. Inside there is a wooden fixture with a second floor. The lower compartment holds all the tools for cleaning and the dishes. Because this box is heavy, it requires a solid base. Therefore I built a base frame from ITEM 20x20 profiles which I can disassemble when needed. Everything else on the market was too unstable - so I build my own!
The Kitchen Box has everything we need for preparing, cooking and cleaning dishes for 2 adults with 2 children.
Happy to share more details on the Kitchen Box build if anyone's interested! Working on a modular water filtration setup next, will share that soon!
Cheers
Sebastian
