I've had three of these from LCI, and one from military surplus, for four years; wrote about them back then and in water sanitation articles since, and can easily testify to their rugged durability. I use mine on every adventure.
At only $22.67, they've been one of the best bargains around for years.

YUP, this is what I have also. 3x scepter GI water(tan), along with 3x black British military surplus water cans. All of them are very sturdy, and well worth the premium cost for LONG TIME/TERM USE!You may mean these:

The only downside, if you can call it that, are the cost of the separate nozzles/wrenches for cap (Amazon)......specialty design.I have seen home-made rigged pressure systems on the GI can which allows them to be used upright, and not laid on their side. That way you can use a spigot system (on/off).
Side note, if you manage to score a GI plastic fuel can (very tough construction) they also take a special nozzle, and wrench, but worth it.

just be careful of small vent cap on the water cans. They can snap off if you are just tossing them into the truck. Had approx 15-20 of these in our section and had 3 or so get snapped off over a couple of years.You may mean these:

Yep...I've heard of others occasionally having that problem. Though I've had mine for about four years now without breaking any. Too heavy for me to toss when full, and they're usually full
