Plastic Jerry cans

  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

You may mean these:

I've had three of these from LCI, and one from military surplus, for four years; wrote about them back then and in water sanitation articles since, and can easily testify to their rugged durability. I use mine on every adventure.
At only $22.67, they've been one of the best bargains around for years.

You can also get them in Olive Drab for 1.32 more.

YUP, this is what I have also. 3x scepter GI water(tan), along with 3x black British military surplus water cans. All of them are very sturdy, and well worth the premium cost for LONG TIME/TERM USE! The only downside, if you can call it that, are the cost of the separate nozzles/wrenches for cap (Amazon)......specialty design.

I have seen home-made rigged pressure systems on the GI can which allows them to be used upright, and not laid on their side. That way you can use a spigot system (on/off).

Side note, if you manage to score a GI plastic fuel can (very tough construction) they also take a special nozzle, and wrench, but worth it.

just be careful of small vent cap on the water cans. They can snap off if you are just tossing them into the truck. Had approx 15-20 of these in our section and had 3 or so get snapped off over a couple of years.

Yep...I've heard of others occasionally having that problem. Though I've had mine for about four years now without breaking any. Too heavy for me to toss when full, and they're usually full .

Good thing to be aware of, for sure.
