I thought of doing part of the Appalachian byway end of Oct. Due time of a weekend maybe it will just be within PA, but wanted to start planning something, maybe I will modify the route and start in front royal through harpers ferry

Is this an off pavement route? Is this trying to see a certain part of PA? Is this just a road trip you plotted out?
Are you from the area you have as the Start Point?
Just a little bit confused.
By just going a bit further north before you start east, you can get into some awesome state forest roads.

I have never been on this route I've had it in my GPX files for a long time, I believe its part of the Appalachian byway which includes trails and roads it was on my list this summer to go from VA to Maine but I got deployed before I could accomplish it

You can spend a good bit of the red line I drew off pavement

Gotcha.
I am not real familiar with the area of travel. But I have been through those areas before.
Lots of interesting things to see.

I think it is the MABDR that follows a similar route to what I showed.
Will have to check out the Appalachian By way and see how much overlaps on your first leg in PA
