Hey all, we're planning a quick trip to Colorado Springs via the backroads. Anyone is welcome to tag along!

Right now the plan is to leave Altus OK the morning of 1 July and overnight at The Great National Sand dunes.
Then we'll use part of Lifestyle Overland's ERT to head north. See link below.

After that it's pretty open ended. Maybe continue north on the dirt or stop by Pikes Peak and explore the Springs.

I've done a couple of the trails from their route. The road out from sand dunes national park is fun with about 9 river crossings, only need 4wd for the sections of sand closer to the park. The rest I did in 2wd, Was on it 2 weeks ago. Did the trail in both directions. The park is experiencing a rare phenomenon right now, in which there is a creek flowing through it, about 50 feet across and maybe 3 or 4 inches deep (2 weeks ago, right now is about a month past the peak flow now). It flows in waves, cool thIng to witness, according to the park service it will be dried up by mid July and it does happen every year. Not sure how I've lived here close to 20 years and never knew about it.

This trail is nice, very scenic, easy 2wd dirt road, maybe 1/3 of it is washboard though, I aired down to ease to shock load.

Thanks for the update! Our time might get cut short but I'll be sure to check out the trail you posted.
