I am looking for some good suggestions within 100 miles of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. Just simple day trips to keep mud on the rig.

BMRA is about 125 miles from Dallas.
Northwest OHV is about 75 miles from Dallas.

Are you on Facebook? There is a group named Texas Overland and they have all sorts of backroads and routes in their file section.
As far as wheeling, CoolMax is right. There are only 2 parks close by, Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, TX and Northwest OHV in Bridgeport.
Northwest OHV is old rock quarry turned park, run by the city of Bridgeport. For me, it's a good place to go waste a morning or day with friends wheeling.
I like Barnwell Mountain better, as it offers a bigger park with a more diverse set of trails. They also tend to maintain the trail system better.
