Newfoundland

  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Newfoundland is a very interesting place with lots of great scenery. Amazingly there are no laundromats until you get over to StJohns. I mean none- fortunately we have plenty of clothes and fresh bedding that will do us an until we get to StJohns. But, to the traveler- be forewarned- bring at least two weeks worth of clothing. Oh, the people are cool as I’ve ever encountered. Next time up we will come either in the spring or fall time. Way too many touridts.

I used to use 5 gallon buckets for washing. Put a few outfits in the bucket with water a just a bit of soap. Put on the lid, strap the lid down, strap the bucket down and drive around. Would get my clothes decently clean. Worked out great when I was in the field for weeks at time in the service.

years back I was on a drill ship off the coast of Nova Scotia and the galley crew was from Newfoundland. they had on the menu "Newfoundland Steak" for dinner. it was freezing cold and sleeting out on deck so the thought of a nice hot steak cheered everyone up. got up to the serving line and it was fried bologna slices. I asked them where the steak was and they laughed and said that the fried bologna slices was "Newfoundland Steak"
so no...I don't trust Newfies anymore...

The people here crack me up, they are very humorous without trying to be.

Newfoundland is truly beautiful. I fondly remember the time we spent there. It was very cool to see the icebergs so close to the coast as we were there in May of that year. Have fun and enjoy.
