Welcome to Overland bound! I am new as well and live in NYC area. One place I’ve been to is Sore Thumb Beach on the south shore of Long Island. You are allowed to drive on the beach and can stay 48hrs with a NYS Fishing and off road permit. But you need to get those in advance.

It’s has some sand dunes and a nice stretch of shore line you can drive on.
