Traveler I

Hi all, I know I posted this in the long intro thread, but thought I'd make my own thread and perhaps get to know some of you more while I'm learning my way around.

I'm Harry from across the pond in the UK, probably not many others on this side, but love getting ideas from you lot, and there's not a lot of overlanding specific communities that I've seen over here
I've done plenty of trips in the past, through a lot of southern africa, mostly on so-called "roads" but its been a while since I've done a trip down there, and even a while since I've done a trip longer than a week. Hopefully that will change soon though, planning some longer trips each year in January time (my shop is closed every year through that month), got my eye on a few places at the moment.
I drive a blue JKU, which is a bit of an eye catcher over here, as most people are still hung up on the defenders (lovely cars, I just couldn't afford one - plus stopped production anyway)
I use it as my daily driver, and also on jobs (I'm a cameraman, so lots of travelling) so gets a lot of miles in, and gets to get off the tarmac whenever I get the chance

Hello and welcome from Norfolk. I see your from Cornwall what part. I was born in Cornwall, 7 miles from Launceston in a small village called Stokeclimsland. My dad still lives there.

Thanks everyone.
I'm on the Roseland, just over the river from Falmouth, so a little further along Launceston. Moved down here last year, best thing we ever did

I certainly will, we were down during the last half term to see my dad. You have Defender 90 Keith over at Plymstock drop him a line.

Hey Harry - Welcome to the community!,
There are quite a few UK members gathering up on this side of the pond, so your not alone! :D

Hopefully we might see you at some of the UK shows perhaps?
Check out the European section of the forum as there are some show post dates in there

Hi Kev, thanks for that, I've been looking around that section a bit already, none of the show dates have worked well for me just yet, but I'm sure one will soon.

Not a problem,
I'm sure there will be some local meet up's outside of the show dates,
as you know these are shows which are happening every year which alot of people tend to go to throughout the year,

There are a couple of members who are down your general direction which I'm sure if you post in the European forum you may find some will gather for a weekend meet ect

If you have signed up as a full member (via the store and purchase an emblem) you can access the regional fb group pages which has only very recently come about :)

I'll be getting onto the full membership in due time, won't be much longer - and yes, the member map will be great.
I've been to quite a few shows before, but recently being down this far and with new work its a bit harder to get the time off to get to them -its not just an afternoon out anymore!

Yep fully understand,
Cornwall is a bit far for most things, but certainly a nice part of the country none the less :)
