Hi All - New to the forums but have lived in the PNW (WA) for the past 30 years. Recently have jumped head first into overlanding in the past 3 years to compliment the days when backpacking is not possible due to weather. Recently moved to the Bellingham area and would love to meet some other over landers in the area and learn/explore local trails!

Hello , Welcome to Overland Bound.

I am the Northwest Director. @Gabriel Bozeman is your closest member representative.

To help navigate through the forums, here are some links that can be filtered by “Region” prefix. We are in the Overland Bound North America US Northwest Region (US Northwest for short).

Overland Bound Meetups- is where all member generated rally points are posted in forum format for discussion of Rally Point and other types of Meetups. A meetup can be as simple as a group getting together for coffee, a trail ride, or a full in expedition with other Overland Bound Members.

Overland Bound Trip Planning- is a great place to talk about planning a trip wether by your self or as a group.

Overland Bound Routs: Downloadable- is exactly what it sounds like. Search, or share your GPX files here with a description of the route and POIs.

Share your Overland Routes- is similar time the downloadable posted above, but doesn’t require you to share the actual GPX file.

Overland Bound By Region < North America < US Northwest- is where you can find regional members discussing local events, Overland News, and general topics. It’s a great recourse to mete others in the regions.

Member Maps- a great trip planning tool. It can also be used to send out messages to members near your location, or a location you plan to visit.

Rally Point- a tool used to creat Meetups or send out an SOS.

Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask myself or your member representative team. Again welcome and hope to see you on the trails.

Welcome! I'm just south of ya on Whidbey Island! I haven't been very active recently due to some live circumstances, but I should be able to get back into everything here shortly! We used to have monthly meetups and campouts in the North Cascades area. Feel free to PM if you want/need anything!

Cheers!

Welcome to OB, Dave! We're glad to have you here. After moving from WA almost 13 years ago I sure can't wait to take a trip back up there and experience parts I never had the chance to see!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! @gabe - Whidbey Island is great, we haven't been out much either due to recent circumstances but after moving up to Bellingham, looking forward to exploring again on a weekly basis. We went up to twin meadows the other week which is a great spot to Jeep camp but it was definitely crowded and I know the snow is coming to the higher elevations soon! Hoping to get out to Slate Peak this weekend!

Dave, Welcome to the group, we are not too far south of you on Camano Island, If you are on Facebook, there is an Overland Bound Northwest page that you should checkout, and keep your eye on the Rally Points for any upcoming meetups or events. Hope to meet you at an event in the future.

@GreyMatter Nice! why did you move?

Mostly for work. (There was a woman, but that's a story for another time). I got my B.S. Computer Science degree from WWU in 2001, and there weren't any opportunities in the Ham for the kinds of projects I wanted to work on (mostly defense projects). I went to work for Boeing and worked at Buckley AFB in Aurora, CO for a few years. I worked in Tukwila, WA on the F-22 for a few years. And then in Maryland at NSA for twelve years. I'm temporarily retired (:tongueclosed:) at the moment, but I'll probably be doing some freelance work pretty soon.

Hey there, welcome to OB. I’m a new member as well and new to WA as well, about 6 months. I live South of you in Vancouver, WA. So if you ever head south for some trail time let me know. @jcgraves3 has a rally point up for next week Saturday, Oct 9th for leg 1 of the WABDR if you’re interested. Safe travels!
