• Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

hey everyone. Travis here from Ventura county. I've got a 2007 tacoma prerunner that I like to take out as much as our 6month old twin girls will let us.
I have minimal experience off road, but learn something new every time I go out.

Thank you! Wow that's a big change, OC to Germany. How do you like it? Is there much public open space there? I'm not familiar how it works in other country's, except I know we have it pretty good here.

Welcome from Austin, TX. Don't worry about your skills off road. Just take things slow. Their are great videos and books to teach the many skills you will want to develop, but nothing beats real world experience. Just get out on the trail, and start the edventure.

Thanks Jeff. I probably should spend more time watching how to videos. I've got a 2wd limited slip so I'm learning its capabilities. I've been stuck in sand with nobody around for miles before. Luckily I just purchased a hilift jack and air compressor. I was able to air down and lift it up and back out. Close call though. The sand just kept getting deeper and softer. I think traction boards would have made that day much easier and less stressful. I'll have some before my next trip.

It’s Great! Although less public land and more organized camping. Still, camping in great countries. The west alps still have some good off road, and the Eastern European countries have some great off-road. I’ll be doing Iceland in 2018.

Travis, on 10/28 there is a Simi Vally meetup. Posted on this site, here are the details.

We are meeting at Tractor Supply in Moorpark at 1800 on 10/28. We plan to do a Trunk or Treat event for the kids. Decorate your car, put on a costume, eat some candy, have a good time, and talk vehicle mods. (Dressing up and vehicle decorating not required).
