So I tried running my solar controller with diodes inline to keep the controller from back feeding when my truck is running. Using diodes won’t allow the battery to turn on the controller. I still have questions in my head. How would the controller know whether the battery is full from the solar panels or from the trucks charging system. Too much amperage maybe? Anyway, I spoke to a buddy from work who does some solar work and he said the solar controller needs to be isolated. I bought a blue sea battery disconnect and installed it between the battery and controller. Now I just have to remember to turn it off when I start my truck. But all systems are working. Finally.
