Mounting a propane bottle to the roof rack

This is my plan. I'm going to mount a milk crate to my crossbars and place a 20lb bottle of propane in it. Then I will use 2 straps to hold the bottle in the milk crate. The straps will also wrap around the cross bars in case the crate breaks. I can't see this not being safe. Am I Wrong?I ask because I know a different set of eyes or brain might see something I'm missing something.

as long as the tank is directly strapped to the bars, I don't see it being an issue. I've seen it before, the milkcrate is a perfect size.
