Happy Sunday everyone. I am currently planning a trip for my biddies and I to do the Mojave Road. I think I have it correctly planned out. I am planning to start in Laughlin Nv on Mojave Road East then Mojave Road Central and then Mojave Road West to the 15 Fwy. I am hearing that the portion that goes through Soda Ash Lake is closed. So I have two questions. 1. Is my route correct? And 2. If the road closed going through Soda Ash Lake? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Me are planning to go 30 Jan-1 Feb. Thanks, Larry

East to west is the preferred way to travel the road, so that part of you plan is good. As for the Great Soda Lake, if it has rained within the last week dont plan on going there is a bypass back to Baker just as you get to the lake. There is also a sign just after you cross Kelbaker that will say if the lake is closed. I will put the bypass on the track just incase you need it.

If your group has more than 7 rigs in it you will need a permit that can be applied for on line. There are ways to get around it but just be warned that NPS law informant has checked more in the recent years.

Overland Bound goes to the Mojave National preserve twice a year to do Trail Guardian Projects, we will be there at the end of May or early April. If you interested a Rally Point will come out in about two more weeks.

I have attached the GPX file for the Mojave Road, download it to your GPS device or phone. The file has all of the points of interest plus campsites.

If you have any questions at all just message me here @Kent R or email Kent@OverlandBound.com

This is what the sign for the lake looks like just after Kelbaker Rd. You can keep going and take a good look from a rock outcropping at the Green Mill campsite. If its wet use the bypass on the track.

Hello everyone. Thank you for the messages and private messages. I just completed the Mojave Road trail. It was quite the adventure. It was fairlly easy except for 1 obstical, the Devils (something). It was pretty intimidating. However sometimes you just have to say f*#k it. That is what what we did. Actually, it wasnt that bad. No issue. Thruought the trail, we managed to lose once vehicle, leaving us with two. I wish thery would update the Soda Lake info more often. We took a change and it was a wrong choice. It was closed. Not only closed bud actual water oin the lake. All the other attractions were open. It was a bitchen ride. It was a great test for my rig. Not because it was hard, but because this is where you find out everything is tight and good to go. I have waited 3 years to drop my rock. Unfortunatly like I previously said, it was closed. So onto the famous "water crossing". That was a bummer. It was approximatelyt 2 feet deep. Unlike the 3-5 feet deep that I was hoping for. All in all though< it was an awersome trip. I will me making this an annual thing. Until then, have an awesome weekend. Not to sound corny, Michael said "adventure is Necessary". It truley is.
