Midland 3 dB Gain Ghost Antenna vs. 6 dB Gain Antenna

mainly curious they both seem to have different uses short range vs long range etc. I am running a 3db one now but have a 6db but have not had a reason to use it yet. Was thinking if I have both then you would have both uses on hand but may not really made sense.

To answer your question you could install an antenna switch to choose which antenna you want to use, just make sure they are mounted far enough apart as to no cause interference with the other.
On flat ground the 6db can still talk short range so you wouldn't benefit from the 3db antenna in that case.
The below image may help show a use case for each antenna.

3db vs 6db uses will depend on your environment. 6db flattens out the wave pattern to increase range and is better over flatlands. If you are more in mountains and the people you communicating with are at different elevations then a 3db may be better.

You could run them on an antenna switch, but really there's no need. Just swap them back and forth as needed. They take almost no space in a vehicle and an NMO antenna takes about 20 seconds to swap out.
