Hi everyone,
I'm from Vancouver, BC.
Currently own a 2019 Highlander XLE V6, Very new and yet to start overlanding.
Still deciding between converting my Highlander into overlanding rig or finding an old and reliable car that can get me started.
I don't know whole a lot about cars but, I believe my journey starts here.
Hoping to learn a lot from here.

Hi there Max,

Welcome to the OB community from us all in France.

Hi all,

I’m Josh from San Jose, CA. Been a lurker for a while and decided to join up and hopefully meet some likeminded people looking to get off the beaten path. Enjoy camping with my family and trying to get more into dispersed camping and overlanding. We recently purchased an older Turtleback expedition trailer and working on getting it ready for next summer.

New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.

Hello everyone!
Just exploring new adventures for the next chapter of my life. I’m a retired USAF photojournalist and currently fighting cancer, so I decided to cut back on my full time business of commercial and portrait work to spend more time doing the things I enjoy. Which is mainly photography, lol.
I’ve travelled the world in many different vehicles, some more suited for off road than others, but even 2WD sedans didn’t stop me from trying the road less travelled.
I will be picking up my next adventure car on January 14 and driving back to Oklahoma with my battle buddy, Peep. It’s a 2007 Honda Element EX AWD and he has already done some stellar work to the exterior. I’m sure it’s not the most capable vehicle for many others to use for exploring, but I believe it will be perfect for my ventures!

Excited for the New Year and experiencing more outdoor life! Follow along on the journey of this new personal project.

Hi Robert,

Welcome to Overland Bound!

That´s an interesting rig. Never have seen that Honda before. Looks like it offers quite some space inside.

Hi Robert,

Greetings from Europe,
Bjoern

Thank you sir from Europe. I’m actually half Spanish. Born in Sevilla, southern Spain and one of the most beautiful places ever.

The Honda Element is basically a box on wheels with a reliable motor but underpowered.

I started my dream escape vehicle with a Mercedes Van but had to be more realistic with my budget. Plus need a daily driver that was nimble and easy to work with. The Element seems to be that balance for me.

Enjoy!

Hi guys!

I’m John from Stockholm

I currently don’t have a rig except for my Renault zoe electric with a range of 200km

I am planning to buy one within this year and want to do a huge trip (Stockholm to Sydney)

I have a dog and do realize that it complicates things a lot.
Hope to be able to contribute to this forum throughout the years to come

Hi John,

Welcome to Overland Bound!

I am one of the OB Ambassadors in Europe. @XC70_OVERLANDER and @Sven are the nearest OB Local Experts to you. A very good local contact in Sweden is our member @Bengt N
Please do not hesitate to contact them or me for questions regarding Overland Bound, and the App or information regarding overlanding.

Local information for any of the OB regions can also be found in the Overland Bound by region forum. Each region has its own sub-forum. Sweden, for example, belongs to the region Scandinavia. So, this link leads to the Scandinavia subforum. Feel free to introduce yourself to your local area here.

Please take a look at the Rally Points for planned events. There you can filter by region. There are plenty of meetups planned for 2025 for Europe already and more to come.

We also do a virtual campfire once a month, there are always members from many regions of Europe. Next one is scheduled for end of January. This is a relaxed online talk about overlanding, trip plans, gear, everyday life and more with like-minded people. Just join us next time if you like.

If you have any other questions just ask, please. Always happy to help.

Safe travels,

Bjoern
