New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.
I'm Joe,Im retired, and my wife and I are full time rv'ers. We spend a lot of time volunteering in National Parks, Forests, and State facilities as well. We use a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport in our adventures exploring.

2) Location Boise, Idaho! There's so many areas to try but I'm just starting out on this adventure!
3) Rig: 2012 F-150 FX4 (That's my baby! ↓) I've since installed Eibach Pro Truck springs, struts, and shocks to the suspension and gave it a 2" lift. Those are 285/17s and they rub in reverse...which I think is weird since they don't rub going forward.
4) Overlanding Experience Background: Zero. Zilch. Nada. I plan on doing the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route next year with my son. I've read it's an "easy/beginner" course to 4x4 and overlanding, so I figure it's a good place to start!

Thanks for the hint that something is still not working properly with your account here, I have already asked who can help.

By the way, there will be more meetings in Europe, you can find them at the Rally Points:

Please look around here and if you have any questions, as I said, feel free to ask.

Cheers, Björn

Hello, I’m Larry and new to the group. I recently purchased a 2018 4Runner that has some significant modifications but plenty left for me to dive into and learn. I grew up in Colorado and used to camp a lot with a lifted Toyota pickup but never pursued it further. Fast forward 30 years and have a wonderful wife and amazing daughter so looking to get back into the adventures! Live in Iowa now and would like to meet people and hopefully plan a trip within a year or so for Colorado. Looking forward to using the forums and learning from experienced overlanders!

Location: AZ
Rig: 2015 JK Wrangler
Experience: offroading - about 4 years; camping - occasional

Found this site as I'm looking to "get out there" more often. I want to experience more of what AZ offers, and surrounding areas, which will require at least an overnight stay. Joining to obtain more information (experience, knowledge and see what set ups are out there).

Hello! New Overlander, getting the Wife interested in the outdoors, and tents aren’t a great option. She’s excited about being able to camp without them.
Located in North Texas.
Currently in a stock 2017 Grand Cherokee Trail Hawk, planning on some minor upgrades over time. Starting off easy while we work the bugs out of our pack list.
Glad to be here!

Hi All,
Newbie to the world of Overlanding here. Been reading about it for many years and looking to get more into it. Have a new to me Jeep Wrangler and just looking to learn more about adventuring out and taking the road less traveled.

Read about overlanding for the first time last December in a hospital bed that should have been my casket.

Have been learning, researching & planning for a FT Overlanding life.

Rig: 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4xe
Build: In Progress...slowly but active.
Base: Maryland, USA....soon to be "where the rig breaks down" :-))
