Hi everyone!
I am Alex, I am from Bellingham WA and I am just starting to get into overlanding. I have always been into off-roading but now my attention has shifted from hardcore trails to going cool places and seeing things that not many people get to experience! I have owned my 08 Ram 1500 for about 2 years now and haven't done any crazy off-roading in it but am looking forward to starting. I currently am in my 4th year of college and want to start exploring the state before I move back home to California. Here's my rig! I also have some pretty awesome new mods coming so be sure to follow along!
Welcome to the fourm and nice rig. Looking forward to seeing what mods you do for overlanding.

Welcome! We seem to be accruing quite a few WA members in here. I feel a meet-and-greet event or trip in the future.....

Hello everyone. I guess I should have started here before posting a build thread.

My name is Matt
Apple Valley, CA
I drive a 2016 Toyota Tacoma DC TRD Sport 4x4
Brand new to over landing.

I'll be 29 years old next month. Though I'm new to overland, I'm not new at all to being in the outdoors. I've been hiking, fishing, camping, mountain biking and backpacking for years. I raced motorcycles and off-road cars in the desert. I also worked as a rural Paramedic in the Death Valley and Eastern Sierra areas for several years so I've got both medical skills and land navigation skills. For leisure, I've never done more than an overnight backpacking trip, but I've camped weeks at a time all over the Western United States. To date, it's been mostly campgrounds in the mountains or areas of the desert close enough to civilization.

I decided I'd like to venture out a little further into the outdoors, become a more self sufficient person and enjoy the world more. I came across this site and others like it over the past year and came to the conclusion that over landing is the way for me to do that. It'll be a long process learning, building up my truck and my supplies and becoming more prepared, but I look forward to seeing where this takes me. Thanks in advance for contributing to the process.

@NorthStar96 I concur. When I joined the forums, I remained a guest or user for some time, then I finally made the leap to membership after I felt that I had "earned my stripes," so to speak. Being a member is definitely more than just a badge or a number, I notice now that I have become one, so, hopefully our newer users catch on.
What are your ideas?

I am Charles. I am originally from England, but call Richmond, VA, my home. I am a well traveled designer, having grown up in Mali, West Africa and Germany.

My travel bug comes direct from my parents, who besides bringing me up in distant lands, embarked on an amazing overland adventure back in 1977. They traveled over 40,000 miles, through 29 countries, in Africa, Europe and Asia. They drove a 1974 Series 3 Land Rover (which they still own) and used only a map and a compass to navigate across the Sahara Desert, twice. They have even written a book called, Strangers Like Angels, which is available for purchase on my website: www.explmore.com and www.strangerslikeangels.com

As you can tell, my interest in promoting their story has inspired me to connect with others and pursue my own ambitions to explore more overland experiences.

As a Land Rover family, I have plans to find my own Disco rig and outfit it for some epic adventures, if not local camping outings with my wonderful wife and charming pooch.

Cheers!
