Member Introductions *NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCE YOURSELF*

Hello fellow adventurers,
My name is Shane, and i am currently stuck here in SoCal. I currently have a '17 GMC Sierra fitted with all the cool gear......
I've been camping and offroading for over 30 years, but only had an "Overland" rig for 2 years. I usually get out every other weekend, whether it be a day trip or a 3-4 expedition.

I'm always down for a new adventure, and hopefully get to see some of you on the trails!!!!
Hello Shane, welcome to Overland Bound.

I made a account on the forum years ago but now back active so figured I should reintroduce myself. I’m Eric from Long Island been over landing for close to 8 years. Mostly spend my time in the north east but starting to venture west more with the purchase of my new truck. 2023 Silverado trail boss with the 3.0 duramax
Hello Eric, welcome back to Overland Bound.

Good morning! My name is James and I am new to this forum. I have a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro in Lunar Rock, C4 fab front bumper with a Warn 12k synthetic winch. I also JUST bought a 1992 Land Cruiser this last week and am in the process of renovating it. I'm very new to overlanding, but my wife and I are avid backpackers, so the concept of "carry what you need" is quite familiar to us. I am a US Marine veteran (2001-2008) and am interested in self sufficiency in all matters of things, and Overlanding is an amazing way to continue the adventures!! Thanks for having me. I'll post some images in the next week or so when I get back home.

Hello and welcome to the OB family.

WOW! Thats my first reaction on all the information here, but can I find what I'm looking for ...?

As a Dutch starter, coming from the lowest country in the world, I can only go up. (In The Netherlands 26% is below sealevel and the area I live is almost 7 meters below sea level)

What am I doing here? While the kids are getting older, we are thinking about what we like most. I can work location independent and we like to travel. Past few years we used my BMW xDrive diesel to find nice spots, but always dependent on appartments or other places. Also we could not come to all the places because of the car limitations. We thought about a camper, but that has its limits in mobility, we don't like a caravan. So the interest goes in the direction of (building) an overlander.

At this stage my interest goes out to meeting people, seeing and experiencing different setups, options, destinations. Can I rent before buy as an example. I seems that most of the forum and events are US oriented, so i'm eager to know if there is a community in The Netherlands. I saw some posts about belgium and a spring event in germany.

So keen to meet and learn and see what the future brings!
But mostly interested in the gear before we start to travel (unless you think different :-)

Feel free to leave starter tips and tricks!

Welcome to Overland Bound. I do hope you can hook up with others in the Netherlands.

There is a lot of information here. What I am finding is the more I go out the more I realize what works and what doesn’t. We travel with 2 adults and 2 medium dogs. We tent camp because we watch the weight added to our rig. This does however add to setup and breakdown time. A trade off that we are willing to take on.

Maybe renting the type of vehicle you think will work for you will help you understand what will work for you. It really depends on the type of driving you intend to do and where you want to go. Go out and enjoy the ride.
