I ran into that. I contacted support who instructed me to uninstall/re-install the app. That worked for me.

You did not upgrade using the link in the email sent to you....I fixed ya up.

You don’t have a paid membership so you won’t have access to the maps

Yep looks to me as the membership was never finalized as he most likely never clicked the link in the email or aliens attacked us LOL

People need to create a new thread if they have issues.... Also Most are issues from not clicking the email they are sent which completes their upgrade (membership) and has them finish filling out their profile. If no "Member" banner, this is 99% of the time the reason.
