Let them eat SPAM!

Will have to watch out for who is cooking if I ever travel with @grubworm...might slip in some spam to get a laugh...
ha! funny you say that....
my wife is a VERY picky eater and wouldn't even consider eating SPAM. years back I cooked one of my dishes which had SPAM in it and she walked in and grabbed a bowl full and started eating and commenting on how good it tasted. I guess I was a little too obvious with my grin and she stopped mid bite, looked me in the eyes and said "There's SPAM in this, isn't there?
well, too late...she already said how good it tasted and after that, I have gotten her to deliberately eat it TWICE in the last 5 years.

our freeze dryer room is full of SPAM so its just a matter of time until she is a full convert...:sunglasses:

I googled Tocino and it looks delicious. I'm buying some Tocino Spam if I ever see it around.

EDIT: Saw Grubworm's teriyaki spam and DANG son, I bet that's absolutely amazing. Buying some of that too. Sadly in The People's Republik of Kanuckistan, we don't tend to see such things.

speaking of Canada...there is a maple flavored SPAM that is really good. I use it good bit like I would a maple bacon. slice the maple SPAM thin like bacon and serve it with eggs and waffle or with hash browns. I use the original mostly, but teriyaki and maple are my favorite flavored ones

Most of my family is that way about SPAM. Remember when they came out with Figgy Pudding SPAM? I told them about it and they were disgusted.... so... I slipped into the family's Christmas day nibbles - little fried slices on fancy crackers. They were gone faster than anything else. The look on their faces when I told them it was Figgy Pudding SPAM was priceless!

I bought a couple cans of Figgy Pudding last year. I haven’t had any yet though.

Seeing this thread, I feel as though I were somehow able to stand on the ocean floor and step back to get a better view of the wreck of the Titanic. Horrific. Yet, I cant stop looking

THAT is the power of SPAM! :grinning:

damn...your titanic reference got me thinking...
years back when I was diving in the Gulf, I was operating an ROV on the seafloor at 9200 feet below the surface. pressure was around 4000 psi. for whatever reason, I tie wrapped a can of coke to the ROV and took it down the 9200 feet. I brought it up and surprisingly the can wasn't compromised...very little gas to compress so the can didn't collapse enough to rupture. I called it "ten thousand foot coke" and drank it on deck. it was flat, but otherwise ok. I should have taken a can of SPAM down...

now I'm going to be thinking about that all day

We had Spam sometimes when times were tough. But not so much when we were flush. And I've never bought it since moving out of the house. Is suppose it is a good emergency ration for a home shelter, bomb shelter, or bug out...

It's quite good for day to day eating.

But all the salt and fat, though, is very high compared to the protein value. Seems great just to "keep you going" if you are stranded somewhere. I may pick some up along with some canned corned beef and stock up for just in case

You (should) probably know to take everything an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot says with a grain of salt, since they are often just scraping data indiscriminately, without the nous to determine its veracity.
But I’m just waiting for the day that one of the big tech companies change it’s name to Cyberdyne.
