Always enjoy a new flavor, and you have a great guess. I was curious and looked online and they are listing Korean Barbecue on the “where to buy” page.

Maybe it's "Poke Bowl" and the meat is actually tuna.

when i was stationed at the submarine base at pearl harbor 40yrs ago, that was my first time seeing the SPAM, egg and rice dish served everywhere and also my first experience with kimchee and korean BBQ. now there is BOTH in one can!

lets see if a can is good enough to make me want to reenlist...

*update* ok...apparently the DOD monitors this forum, as suspected, and they called to inform me that they know about my exploits onboard the sub involving super glue and sleeping officers. too bad. i was REALLY looking forward to squeezing into those dress whites again...

I was just there in March, driving pretty dang close to the pens. Man, that place was deserted, I putzed around for an hour along all the shore roads, didn't see anyone else driving, let alone security forces telling me to move along lol. Had decent food at Restaurant 604 under bridge, and Dixie grill BBQ just out the gate, which I think have been there a long time. My son was getting spam with everything, they LOVE that stuff in Hawaii!

Been a while since I participated in this thread, so I thought I'd share probably my favorite car camping breakfast:
Slice up the hickory smoke flavored SPAM into 1/4" slices the long way so you end up with wide squares instead of narrow rectangles, fry it up until crispy on the edges. Top two slices with American cheese, one fried egg, and hot sauce in a toasted burger bun. Wrap the sandwich up in foil or paper and let it set for at least ten minutes- I'll usually break camp and let these keep warm in the engine bay of my Subi while warming up the car. This wrapping stage is important, because it helps everything jell together into a magical breakfast sandwich that's salty and smoky, a little spicy, creamy and cheesy. Basically a Taylor Ham sandwich for us plebes who don't have convenient access to Taylor Ham/Pork Roll.

You can sub the burger bun for any other bread you like, but be sure to get something that's soft. Tougher breads like bagels and English Muffins can cause the soft goodies to squish out when you bite into it. You can also dip the sandwich into ketchup if you want. I can't stand ketchup and I'll even admit that it's pretty brilliant with this sandwich. You can use whatever hot sauce you like, but the vinegar-forward ones like Tabasco or Crystal help cut through the fattiness of the whole dang thing.

Serving suggestion: eat while standing, looking at an alpine lake with hot coffee in-hand and family nearby.
