Went and got thethirdtwin dirty at Big Bend NP. And a bit of battle damage.

It was storming every night. Many parts of the park were flooded and closed. Not quite Biblical rain, but it seemed close.

We did Old Ore Rd one day. Lots of mud and standing water. Go figure. I was on an off camber area, going around a large rock. Then the earth reminded me about mud, friction, and gravity. Crunch right down into that rock.

The next day was River Road West, then Black Gap. I hit the pushbar on the big step on Black Gap.

The ditch lights on thethirdtwin quit working. I used a VOM to finally track it down to this ring terminal. The fuse holder was 6 inches away and dead. Hitting the ring to check for continuity was no bueno. Hitting the end of the wire? Bingo!

I’ve recently gotten one of these devices, to use in thethirdtwin. Today I put in the canned Tow and transmission tunes. I also bumped up the throttle response and disabled the AFM/DOD. It drove quite nicely today.

When I took this photo at Woodchuck Pass, Wyoming I had no idea that 4 miles later, both running boards would be broken and the teardrop have a shredded tire and cracked wheel.

Today I finally removed the running boards and installed new aftermarket ones For $200. The Chevy house only wanted $4200 to replace them with new OEM ones.
