It’s been over a year since the last trip with the teardrop. Lots of water under the bridge.

Lots of dust on that trip. A cut tire. Then 400 miles of rain to wash the dust off, and keep the compromised tire cool enough to last the trip home.

I did find a failure in the varnish and a large wet spot in the wood, under the finish.

Fast forward a year. Cut tire has been replaced. And zits on the teenage teardrop. Lots of zits. Both sides are affected. Each is a failure spot in the finish, but that’s about to change.

I liked this orientation for the Jackery to see the display at a glance, but am concerned about the possibility of damage to the charging cable and input jack from the overland hound.

That water tank is sick. I would love to get one of those. I bet they're expensive though lol. Your doggos are adorable :)
They're not too expensive, and sometimes you can find them for sale in the classifieds section, I think right now they're going for about 200 new. FWIW I like mine, and I'm glad I have it. I don't keep mine permanently installed. I only drop it in and hook it into the Jeep when I'm going out for more than an overnighter. Shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions so we don't Clutter up the thread here.

That’s a good idea. I’ve left mine permanently in thecopcar because the platform is above it. With thethirdtwin I haven’t settled on a long term strategy yet.

love it! didnt realize that you had that much going on until i saw the thread again. we're building out at the same time, too bad we arent neighbors!
what was the deal with the finish? it looks great in the pics, but obviously you had some failure issues. i love the varnish look...reminds me of the old style wood boats.

very cool look. youre also very right about "deer armor" on the front of the tahoe. we still go thru sonora and ozona to visit my mom and there are always deer running out in the road.
very nice rig! let us know when youre ready for black gap again. we have a pooch now, so mollie will have a companion

The teardrop has more boat parts than anything else. :grinning:. I think the varnish failure is simply age. It’s 14 years old. I touched it up once, maybe twice. I don’t recall now. So definitely time for some maintenance. I had a plan to refinish the entire thing last winter, then life took a turn.

Definitely yes for black gap or the area again. That was a fun trip!

More teardrop maintenance.

Rose has had an issue for a while with sneak circuits discharging her battery. I’m guessing the added USB outlets and digital voltmeter, etc.

During the year of unpleasantness, the drain was so deep, it destroyed the battery. I had planned to add a master disconnect for a while, so with a new battery in place now is the time.
