If you check with your John Deere dealer they should have disk blanks that don't have the hole punched in it. We get them from Becknell wholesale. It'll save you some welding and grinding.

If you can get your hands on some springs from the under car tire carriers/hoist you can put them on before bending the handles. They work great to keep the handles cooler.
