Hello Nebraska

All, I think I can make it earlier as well. I'll double check with the wife (boss :-). Any particular part of the store we want to meet? Over by the restaurant or fish tanks by entrance?

Hey guys.. ik I'm the one that asked for the time change. But unfortunately my wife grandpa has been in bad health for a couple weeks now and he just went to the hospital this morning. So don't worry about doing it early because I won't be able to make it! :( I'm sorry I won't be able to make it but next time I should be able to

We could meet in the parking lot on the northwest side by the horse corral, look at the vehicles, then go in and chat at the restaurant.

I'll be in a silver Tacoma
Sound good?

Asa and Brian, it was good to meet you guys. It will be great to try and plan some trips for next year. Here are few suggestions I have for possible trips:

Relatively short drive about 5 hours away- http://kansasadventures.com/Scenic-Attractions/arikaree-breaks.html
http://www.kansastravel.org/monumentrocks.htm

A little longer trip to northwestern NE- https://visitnebraska.com/see_and_dos/toadstool-geologic-park
http://outdoornebraska.gov/fortrobinson/

Longer trip to Colorado- https://expeditionportal.com/overland-routes-alpine-loop/?fref=gc&dti=347084132158453

And the trip that can't possibly disappoint to Moab/Canonlands

No problem, hopefully there will be many more meet ups in the future. Dustin, I live in Lincoln. Let me know and we could meet up sometime. It's always good to know others with the overland interest!

Hello everyone. I've been away from OB for a few months. Sick mother in law and busy with my family during the holidays. I see that there was a mini meet-up in Nov. Sorry I missed it.
I have gone to Halsey with the Kearney Jeep Club and it is fun. The trail we went on was mostly through the sand hills and not in the trees. It has several challenging climbs and I had to tow a Wrangler up one of the hills. We had a blast. There is also a fun micro brewery in Broken Bow and camping at Halsey. Keep that in mind for warmer weather. I'll try and watch on here for future meet-ups.

Great info on Halsy! I am looking at heading to the Nebraska National Forest in May. It looks (via imagery) like there are TONS of overland trails up there. But they are not well mapped. I am a GIS specialist by trade, and I am currently working on mapping out all visible trails and surface types. I will convert to KML after I'm done so the googleEarth people can check it out.

Anyone been up to Nebraska National Forest/Chadron National Park?

That is good to know about Halsey. I've only driven on one of the trials going back through the trees there but it looked like there are a lot of trails overall. It's definitely a place I want to check out further.

I've never been to Nebraska National Forest but will definitely look into it as it sounds like a great place to go to.

Later this summer, I'm planning on going out to Ouray, Colorado and meet up with some people from the NE Jeep group. It's going to be a week of camping and driving mountain passes/trails!

Hey guys I'm from up in Sioux City, IA but I see a lot of you guys are from the Omaha/Lincoln area. I'll try to make it to a meet up that you guys have. Hasley has definitely been on my list of places to go so if you guys going there I might tag along.
