My first reciever was a Hammerlund HQ-110! Back in the 70s when I got my novice. My father helped me pay for it. I had a EICO 720 crystal controlled CW transmitter and I made homebrew wire and vertical antennas and tuning coils.

I just got licensed last week. KM4PUI. I'm going to look at vanity calls after the holidays. Been having fun chatting with my dad on the local repeater. He bought me a little Boafang (or is it Pofung [emoji848]) portable to play with while I research one of my rig. The Icom's look niceeeee.

I hadn't heard of Hammarlund radios, which peaks my interest as I'm from a line of Lund families that is from the marriage of a Hammar and Lund in the Zumbrota area. Both of which are common old-world names though.

I hadn't either until I stumbled upon this one on CL.

I had a neighbor a few doors down from me when I got my novice license. He was a SWL and had a Hammerlund HQ170b. He enjoyed listening to European broadcast radio.

Not a lot of options for quad band mobiles.
The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Yaesu FT-8900r. Which is a great radio.

Considering my money situation was thinking about one of the Chinese radios.
