I’m going to be doing the George traverse from West to East this weekend. Any suggestions on good camping spots?

I just got off the trail 2 days ago. If you go the northern route of Frog Loop, be prepared for a bridge outage. If you have a jeep, there is a bypass to the side or back track over the dam.

There are so many opportunity sites to camp, you will have no issues finding one. 5 nights and we had all creekside and 2 lake side nights. Absolutely perfect.

I just completed the Georgia Traverse (east to west) on 6 July 2026. What an amazing trip. I went with a group called The Florida Off-Road Misfits and would like to thank them for putting up with me. We started with 8 vehicles and finished with 6. Two members got called away for work related emergencies. If you ever get a chance to do the Georgia Traverse DO IT!!!

That sounds like an incredible adventure! Completing the Georgia Traverse is definitely something to be proud of. Even with a couple of people having to leave early, it sounds like you all had a memorable trip. Thanks for sharing your experience it's inspiring and definitely makes me want to add the Georgia Traverse to my bucket list. Glad everyone made it through safely!
