With the soaring gas prices, regular unleaded (87 octane) here in SD is hovering at $6.59 ish for cash transactions...and this is for ARCO, ouch, but there is some light for BAJA expeditions.

Fpr ARCO and BP, not sure of 76 and Chevron, are exchanging 20 Pesos / DLLR, so a gallon being just under 4 liters (3.78). A liter down here is 20 Pesos/liter and change, so a US gallon is roughly 60 Pesos / $4 and change. Is it worth the border wait??? All members always have a safe place to park and stay if you wish to make it an over nighter.

I want to stay away from politics but
The price and availability of energy is NOT politics.

It's business, and it's National security.

People who MAKE it politics do so to end the conversation, because they will lose the argument.

The price of dog food isn't political, but somehow the price of energy is? We simply can't afford this childish bickering right now. We need to all get together and demand that ALL options are important to stop financing the killing of children and invasion of borders and that means ALL borders.

Drill baby, drill.

Well I wasn’t trying to end the conversation. But business and politics go hand in hand. I’m sure you know that. I’m taking the Russian oil off the table because I’m saying that’s not the sole reason gas prices are so high. The gas prices are high because we’re not using our own oil. Our own, other than our reserves. We don’t need to be using that. It’s not even helping the prices. I think we agree but it’s hard to understand on here.

People get seriously upset if we start talking about what republicans or democrats do, so that’s all I meant by staying away from politics. And it does affect oil. Oil runs the world. Which influences those in political positions. There’s not much more political than oil. Lol

More than just that, cutting the Canadian US pipeline, now the Russian Europe pipeline, having to now purchase from Opec and even as we write Biden is setting up a Veniszuela deal. WE ARE GOING TO SUPPORT A DICTATORSHIP, making Maduro richer while his people eat from garbage cans in the street.

Where did we go wrong, our morals, ethics and values?

It is terrible, I think it’s somewhat of a defense strategy to keep Russia from setting up a nuclear launch shop there. But idk anything really.

I didn't mean to highlight your statement in a bad way, Jackson.

I had a HUGE thread on here about fuel prices and overlanding that got locked because SOMEHOW, fuel prices, which is a very important aspect of overlanding, is a freaking political subject.

It's like saying bacon is political in a Waffle House.

It's NOT political. It's business decisions made by people who have other business interests.

Elon Musk builds electric cars and even HE says we should be drilling, because he wants a wealthy, secure Country so he can sell cars to people who can afford them.

Nobody will be overlanding, or buying Tesla's, if the Country is bankrupt.

Yeah you’re right. I’m already replanning some trips because of it. I don’t want to be a prepper, but I had to buy some extra because I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse this summer. But the fuel that I purchased won’t last me long at all - about 11 full tanks worth. Every trip is going to have to be somewhat local. The Cape Lookout trip is going to hurt.

it's due to the war between Russia and Ukraine
LOL. Not sure if serious.

They're extra touchy about the subject because it's 115% clear that THEY ARE the problem. Lowered production, is lowered production. Poor leadership has consequences. Is that political? Not really, it's the truth.

We're sitting on a credit bubble to. So it's not looking good. Better buy the giant sized bag of TP tonight at the grocery store. And some milk.

Sure, it might just be a coincidence.

Like 2008 and 1977 were.

Well, oil production is up and drilling permits are up, outpacing the previous administration. And the chart is a misrepresentation. You might want to look into the actual causes of oil crises.

You must be a big Obama fan, since he presided over the biggest oil boom ever.
