Fridges in truck beds

Let’s talk fridges in the back of truck beds. Family takes up inside of cab so I cannot mount it inside to help with the desert heat and dust. I will be installing a 12” bed rack and roof top tent. What have you done to help with heat and dust with out frying the fridge.

For sure get an insulated cover for it, most manufacturers sell them.
Even inside I also use a cheapo window reflector over mine which reflects the sun, makes a difference.

My setup is enclosed, sort of… so I can only speak about moving heat away from the compressor.
My setup has the fridge in a slide out drawer. So the compressor is 15” down in a pocket. I used a brushless usb fan to draw the heat generated by the compressor fan up and out of the drawer. It is mounted on the separator wall and powered by the fridge usb connection. I don’t have an up close picture of it but will send one tomorrow.

Yes. Please don't take this as being snarky but the pictures I uploaded show the ICECO insulated cover.

Well, my GF and I have lost 100 pounds together now on this self-injected weight loss drug that comes packed in Styrofoam coolers with some chemical frozen bags. (Notice how cleverly I stroked my ego mentioning my weight loss success and tied it into this fridge thread )

For best performance from any fridge/freezer, it should be as full as you can get it. Back in the day I used frozen water filled milk cartons in my ice chest, lasted for days and always had water.

I've been collecting these freezer bag things, just toss them in my freezers at home, I've noticed the freezers work less and are keeping the icecream just right.

Another trick was to keep my small coolers with ice inside my big dry monster marine cooler and instead of buying Pelican cases for storage boxes a dry ice chest that can shut tight makes a great storage box.
