Perhaps this was a previous thread, but i was uable to find. I am new to forums, so apooligies if i missed it. Any suggestions or experiences with secure storage options for a 4 runner. I have a 2020 TRD, no third row. i was looking at a comb, drawer style 6 to 8 in height that would cover the cargo area. i wanted the lowest possible so i could have a sleep area on top as well as store gear. this consideration is why i am not entertaining the top opening style. any suggestions or previous experiwnce with a specific style or model would be appreciated. thanks to all

Truckvault are excellent products but I need a Seatvault that opens like a drawer vice top open. My plan is to use the vault to built upon its top for a drawer / fridge system and opening up from the top will not work for me.

What are you looking to lock up? I think this is always important this is always important to know to make the best recommendation. I always say a pistol should be on you in a proper holster, so I would guess long gun? Depending on shotgun or AR, there are some manufacturers that make locking mag well inserts that can lock a rifle in place. Great for under seat/behind seat storage depending on vehicles.

Thank you. I actually have a request in with them now regarding discounts and options but wanted to see if there were any alternatives that were less wood construction and $$$. A single drawer was quoted at $2125 on the site. Many thanks for the replies.

Double check local laws also. Washington state has a law that considers firearms left in a car unattended (whether locked up or not) as unsecured and thus opens you up to legal liability. I'm not sure of the limits, but something to look into before investing in anything.

I thought if it was in a car vault that was securely fixed to the vehicle it IS considered legal. We went down this road when building travel trailers and wanting to put a gun vault into them... we were going to affix them to the closets, but due to laws had to bolt them through the floor to the frame.

You can see them in the “In Floor Tool Box”. It had to be labeled such to get around PR due to the anti-gun movements a crossed the US... but it is definitely a TruckVault. The same trailers also have a pistol vault in the master bedroom, wich was labeled something like Valuable Safe. But it is a biometric pistol safe.

Yeah I'm not 100% on the specifics, just commenting to raise awareness of these laws, so we stay out of trouble.

I live in a somewhat different world from the one many on the forum live in, however...

On the few occasions I take a shotgun somewhere, which would be to a shooting range or a shoot ("hunt") it's in a metal locked case, secured to the vehicle with a security cable.

I wouldn't dream of overlanding with a firearm.

I can’t imagine not being able to pack a fire arm when I leave my house. But I understand we live in two separate worlds.
