Drive up Highway 88, to Omo Ranch Road. We will head off the beaten path and set up camp. The campsite has a nice fire pit and is surrounded by large pine trees with some nice shady area. In the afternoon, you can hang out at camp or go out and explore more trails. The Middle Fork of the Consumes River is nearby. Come up for the day or spend the night. This is a family-oriented event

Is this trail trailer friendly?

I have a small adventure trailer similar to a turtle back

Yes, Josh, the trail is pretty smooth with a few trees that have been cut to reopen the road. The trees do hang over a little bit, but if you drive slow and keep your eyes open you should be okay.

Just checking

I’ve been through some gnarly things with it so far, but you never know until you know, right

I have a question for everyone? How many kids will be on this trip? In trips past I would bring glow sticks for the kids to play with after dark. If you disagree, please let me know. I would want any of them feeling left out.

Good morning Overland Bounders.
I'm looking forward in meeting everyone on our up coming trip. For Saturday evening we are going to have a pot-luck (optional) The pot-luck is open to any food that you like to cook up and share with the group. I will bring the supplies to make S'mores for the evening campfire.

I live in Amador county and would hate to double back on my trip. Is there a way that I can meet u in sutter hill or anywhere else up there on your way up ? I’d really hate to add 2 hours to my trip if I don’t have to

We could meet you at Kennedy Gold Mine Vista point around 09:15. If you want to send me a personal message, we could exchange contact information so I could text you the day of travel for better ETA.

I’m about 85% sure I’m going, so I don’t want to slow the group down for any reason. The vista point is fine for a meet up. I’ll let u know the night before if I’m going or not

Couple questions;
Should I bring firewood? I know it’s best to source it there, when allowed. Always risk of bringing in something invasive..
Any food slot to fill for the potluck? Meats, veggies, deserts? I know you said you’d bring the S’mores fixings, Keith. Or any requests?

Edit: Another question; I’ve got my permit, but is there a fire ban there currently? Hoping we can use the fire pit that’s there. I can bring a propane fire pit if we’re not going to be able to burn wood.

I will call the ranger station and find out about the fire ban. There is plenty of wood up there. Bring the propane.

I thought about bringing hot dogs, buns and mustard and onions along with Coney Island sauce.

For the pot-luck, just cook up one of your favorite foods that you would like to share

I’ll look forward to future trips in our area. Thanks for putting this whole thing together. Our community needs more of it for sure

Damn! Won’t be able to make it…

One of our animals just passed away today. Me and my wife’s first “kid” together…mess over here..

I’ll have to catch up on next trip…you guys have a good one! I’d appreciate any gpx files for the camping area. Or was it in the actual camp Pi Pi?

….always something…. dying to get out!
