The Park District is reopening some Regional Parks previously closed due to winter storms. However, some parks remain closed as park staff continue to assess storm damage and clear debris from parks and trails, including downed trees, falling branches, mudslides, landslides, and flooding.

According to Google Maps Foothill Rd is closed until Jan 31. I found a few reports (e.g. KRON4) that the road was closed on Jan 2, but none that the road was reopened.

Crew, great turnout Today. Thanks for coming out and taking a chance with the rain. A quick summary and recap for those that couldn't make it due to being stuck in snow .

1) next up is the Feb 2-5 - Anza Borego Trip. @JReichert11 (Jeff) and @4Low_Good_to_Go (Jason) will be our fearless leaders. Please monitor communications on the rally point
East Bay – Anza Borego Trip for last minute details.

2) our next meetup will be on Feb 11th (NEW DATE) 1pm in the Park as usual. hopefully by then the park is open again - Also NOTE this is the Saturday so a day earlier than usual as Sunday is Superbowl. Topic will be - Recovery Gear Usage Best Practices

3) we moved the SWAP meet to March 12 at SHAFFERS OFFROAD - 30580 Union City Blvd, Union City, CA 94587 (NEW DATE / DIFFERENT LOCATION)

4) SnowDay Trip - Jesse is monitoring the weather / trail conditions and we will schedule as things become manageable. Hopefully we have a date by the Next Meetup.

5) The Mojave Trail Guardian event will be very likely Mar 17-19 stay tuned for info from @Kent R (Kent)

6) Death Valley - we will definitely make it to Death Valley in Mar / Apr to hopefully experience a solid spring bloom as conditions are looking good. Death Valley Wildflower Report - DesertUSA is a good site to monitor to see when things start to get going - More details as we get closer.

MOJAVE TRAIL GUARDIAN EVENT
- is confirmed to be Mar 25th - stay tuned for info from @Kent R (Kent) a rally point will come out in the next few days

DEATH VALLEY BASECAMP
- as a result we are moving the basecamp to start Feb 28 - so we will definitely make it to Death Valley to hopefully experience a solid spring bloom as conditions are looking good. Death Valley Wildflower Report - DesertUSA is a good site to monitor to see when things start to get going - More details as we get closer. If the flowers go even earlier there is an option to start the basecamp on Feb 23rd.

The park is open but the road is closed and now they are starting to give out tickets to people that are going around the road closed signs who are not local residents.
I will ask the police if people can enter the parking lot along Foothill road coming from Sunol.

quick reminder that our upcoming meetup this weekend is one day early on Saturday (NOT Sunday - due to Superball). - SPECIAL EastBay Meetup – (ON SAT FEB 11 – NO FEB 12 Meet due to Superbowl)

Plan is to meet at our usual spot in Pleasanton Ridgepark. However be aware of the local road closure (see previous) @Llama Paul is checking access options - we'll post here if we need to change location last minute.
