Is the Snow Run back to Uncle Tom’s or TBD?

We are leaning towards MET trail above Uncle Toms cabin. But with any snow run that could change last minute due to the amount of snow and what’s open.

Any update on the snow run? I haven’t seen a rally point posted yet?

I did UTC last weekend and camped overnight. 6 degrees in the morning

Hey All,
Just wanted to let everyone know that we might need to push the snow trip back a couple of months. I have been keeping an eye on the trails and it looks like everything is completely closed, impassable and will be for some time. Since when does it rain/snow this much in California? Airing on the side of caution and not wanting to make this an impromptu overnight trip let’s push it back. Armin will post updated date shortly.

Hello all,

I can’t believe another year of overlanding has flown by! Thank you for so many friendships and memories throughout the year.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to @PapaDave who has build this fantastic community here in the east bay and very much thank you for all of your support as we are ramping up for 2023.

It has been such a rewarding year of exploring. For me personally it started a trip to Baja and ended with a trip to Baja with many memorable "expeditions" throughout the year.

I hope this coming year is filled with new adventures and abundance for all of us. And if I can encourage you in anything, it’s to do that one trip that you always wanted to do. Plan it now !!!

Been hunting for electrical solutions in the rig. Currently running just a stock setup battery and running my fridge without driving all day kills the battery. I know there are some trick solutions out there but most take up space I don't have. Love to see what others did to solve it or any ideas? Just an idea.

You'll likely get a lot of answers, but here's a quick list of what I did (hmmm, not sure OB is going to let me put the links in - I'll put names of stuff and you can find it all on the web):

Redarc 40A DC-DC charger

Battleborn 100Ah LiFePO4 battery

12v outlet

Battery Cable - 25ft 8ga

50A circuit breaker

Anderson plugs

Fuse block

Battery monitor


The setup should be self explanatory, but I'll bring the truck on Sunday and you can have a look and ask any questions.
