hey group, just wanted to share and see if anyone may have some feedback.
Background: my wife and i go camping, we actually put our queen size home mattress in the van. The issue is that with the wheel wells the mattress tacos and rolls us into each other. I wanted to resolve this. The other challenge, is the van us a 'daily driver'. I don't want to make any major conversions that would compromise the capability to put all the seats in and move 8 people if needed.
So this idea came to me. I spent weeks drafting and drawing it out to hopefully factor for all concerns.
The platform is 48in by 80in in 3 segments. The middle section is 3.5in long, and the wings are 38.25in. The legs are 12in tall out of 2x4. I have slots to fit 2x2 in long ways to help support and prevent the hinges from hyper extending. I added eye bolts using 550 paracord to help keep the legs upright and prevent them from collapsing.
The last realization i had was that if i have the last 2 seats removed of the van, i can fit the platform in without one of the wings. So one of the wings has hinges with removable pins, so i can only have 1 wing at 38.25in +3.5in middle portion.

Ideally this could probably be better out of extruded aluminum or a steel frame, but I had a bunch of scrap lumber, and only had to buy the plywood and 1 ea 8ft 2x4 to complete it. I'm sure there will be a version 2 at some point in the future.

Thanks for any input / feedback.
