  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Hey guys so I figured I would ask on here before starting this little project. I am a broke firefighter and have a bunch of these back boards lying around the station. I figured I would try and make a couple traction boards outta these by drilling holes and using bolts, washers and cap the bolts with some acorn nuts. I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this before. I'm also curious how bad it will eat up my tires if I start getting tire spin. Im open to any ideas.

That much hardware would get expensive and heavy pretty quick. Personally, IF I was hell bent on using them I would wrap 3/4 in. or so sisal rope across it between the hand holes in a straight and x pattern and then some epoxy garage floor paint with grit over the whole shebang. Really though grit top molded fiberglass grating is my choice even over Maxtrax.

Yeah moments after I wrote that I was thinking about me having to drill holes could probably compromised the strength of the board plus the cost of the hardware so I thought of rope as well I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that way I do like your epoxy idea however I did not think of that
