I have an 04 4RNR, and have been trying different options. Just changed from Ram Mounts suction cup at the center of the windshield, to a ball stud on the A puller grab rail. Just curious to see what everyone else has done.

In thecopcar I built an amm9 can console, so drilling holes for stuff is not really an issue. The DPS also removed the overhead console to mount the light controller, so I repurposed that the put a radio faceplate mount.

@HoffmanMark how are you liking it up there so far? I've gathered parts to do the exact same thing in my 4runner except putting the Baufeng handheld radio there.

I am not in a 4Runner, but use 67 Designs mounting in my Jeep and am very happy with it.

I use Lido mounts in my 04 4Runner and 89 Bronco. Sorry, no pictures as my ex took the 4Runner with her.

That's where mine is in my Cruiser.

So far the Ram Tab-Tite holder is the only one that can seem to keep my tablet (10" samsung in a protective case) reasonably secure. when using the X arm style and the ones from 67 Design and Bullet Point the tablet slowly walks sideways on washboard roads. also no matter how much the mounting arms are tightened the end clamps will rotate on the arm with the weight of the tablet. The only issue with the Tab-tite from ram is it is a universal holder so it is a bit oversize and clunky, but does its job.

The A-pillar ball stud mount is the best option. It's more stable than suction cups, doesn't obstruct your view, and won't damage the windshield. Most 4Runner owners prefer this setup.

I’ve had good luck gluing a Ram ball with the round base to various spots on the dashboard, I use Goop , it holds great, doesn’t let go from heat or cold but I can carefully pry it off with barely a mark when the time comes

I have a 2008 4Runner and use a Ram mount attached to a center console molle panel from Rago Fabrication.

Resurrected OP but I will play along!! 2014 F350 dash with hand made support bracket because not much is made for my choice of Truck. No worries, lets fab. From cardboard mock up to simple grinding and bending. Hammered paint and rubber edges. It holds a TPMS screen behind the iPad, GoPro in the center and iPhone. Have room for 3 more spots. Bonus, GMRS mount! In case your wondering, it does not block my FOV.

How did you mount it to the top of the dash?

The top plastic glove box section is removable so I used 2 bolts.

Been toying with the idea of upgrading the display to a newer one that has car play. I found the forums that discuss it and one guy has done it but it’s about $500 for a convenience. My iPad and iPhone work perfectly.
