Anyone know of any decent trails with camping within a reasonable distance of Springfield, IL to St. Louis. I’ll be traveling through for a wedding with some downtime in early March

Illinois appears to be a dead zone for trails

Agreed, not much in Illinois for off road travel. Some off road parks exist, which are good places to develop your off-roading skills and see what your vehicle is capable of. But they lack that sense of adventure after making a couple laps. I've tried looking to see if there are any trails or roads on the south end in the Shawnee Forest area. Looks like there may be a few trails or forest service roads, but have not been able to determine if they're open to the public. Haven't been able to find much info.
