I made one of these already but I cant find it anywhere. Anyway This is CheNasty, my 91 FJ80 with a fuel injected 400 small block chevy engine and built 700R4 tranny coupled to the Toyota tx case and standard running gear.

Father in law is a mad scientist and combined the Cruiser and Chevy engine he rebuilt in his shop. Engine has 3500 miles and the truck has 140,000 original miles. It was sitting in his back yard since 2011.

I saw it and fell in 2016 and have been working on it every time I visit. (He lives 140 miles from me).

Replaced the fuel tank, fuel sender unit/pump. Rebuilt a few things and some normal maintenance for a vehicle thats been sitting for a while.

This is it the day my wife trailered it home to me, caught me completely off guard.

Cleaned out the engine bay, it looks a tad better than it did for sure. Really need a new bumper! Anyone have any good headlight retrofit write ups? He retrofitsource seems to have good reviews. May just have to be the one to make the write up! ImageUploadedByOverland Bound Talk1538172366.214566.jpg

Before the wire brush attack.

So long story short, my oil pressure gauge isn’t working. It was, now its not. So ordered a new cluster and im assuming the 91 and 93 guages are vastly different because they dont match at the back AT ALL.

That was a wasted $100.

Put the old crappy one back in.

And back to not working.

Sunroof is leaking like a damn waterfall.

Seems like the rear isnt pressed all the way up against the seal. Inside is soaked.

Its been a while. Apparently spraying silicone on all the rubbers over and over again fixed the leak and softened up the window rubbers. Cleaned up the interior and quick painted the seat mounts. New plans are

1. Dual battery setup of some kind. Apparently the FJZ80 tray goes on the driver side so ill grab one of those and throw a battery in. Fab up some kind of wiring and new terminals all around.

2. Get a tuna can filter set up leading into a snorkel down the road at some point.

3. Pimp up the engine bay and tidy wiring and pull out the aftermarket cruise control.

4. Gauges still aren’t working.

5. Rear suspension is saggy as F. Need new.

6. Front seats are fubar.

Here are some pics

Just kidding. Nobody wanted the old girl so shes staying mine. Went to start and shot fuel all over the engine bay. Ripped the whole intake off, replaced the fuel pressure reg diaphram and all the o rings in the ruel rail. Back together after some bleeding here and there shes alive. Gonna baseline her and get her on the road and quickly off the road think i might make a youtube channel for the whole thing.

The filter hides the blasted clear coat

After what feels like forever, time to dump money into this pig and get on with it. Got a HF 12k winch, new brakes up front, smittybilt gutter mount legs, amber spots and mounts, auxbeam bluetooth controller, chase bar for the bavk, rock lights i will be using as rock lights AND making some brackets for the rack to use as camp lights, they,re also bluetooth and RGB/dimmable.

Going Fox 2.0 shocks and some OME springs. Trying to figure out if I want Ko2, or AT3W’s. I have the Ko2’s on my pickup and love them, and the wildpeaks on the 80 now. They’re just old and need to be replaced. Running 33x12.5R15’s if anyone has opinions, they would be welcome. Also aware of the ko3 and AT4W but havent looked into them yet.

Anyway, rant over, pics to follow.

Washy wash. I also installed an aftermarket fuel gauge, didnt work, just reads almost empty regardless. I NEED to figure that out. Cluster fuel gauge is dead, don’t want to buy another one until i rule out the wiring.
